Microsoft Outlook isn’t limited to email only. The company has integrated contacts and calendar functionality as well. While that can be a value add-on, you might want to keep the contacts and calendar separate from your email. While Microsoft Outlook apps work well on iOS and Android, sometimes the things are either complicated or just absent. It is missing essentials such as fingerprint authentication and sorting emails into different categories.

1. Gmail

Gmail app comes preloaded Android phone and often turns out to be a natural option. The app is filled with all those Gmail-centric features such as rich filters, auto-suggestions, spam protection, and more. Our biggest gripe with Gmail is the interface which stays consistent. However, you’ll see a hamburger menu on iPhone to navigate through the labels and other options. Among all the features, Smart Compose provides auto-suggestions to complete sentences. Outlook offers a similar feature, but it’s limited to Outlook web only. Account switcher from the profile icon is one feature that every user appreciates. Swipe up or down on the profile icon at the upper right corner, and you can switch among email accounts in the app. Other features include integration with Google Tasks to send an email directly to the task management app, shortcuts for other Google apps, dark theme support, and more. 2. Spark Mail

Spark Email is one of the cleanest looking email apps out there. The app uses a beautiful white+blue theme with relevant options at the top. Once again, it relies on a hamburger menu and not a bottom menu bar to get things done. Those missing Outlook’s Focus Inbox feature will find themselves right at home with Smart Inbox on Spark Mail. It declutters the Inbox and only showcases the relevant emails to you. Smart Inbox will neatly categorize emails in relevant sections such as Personal, Notifications, Newsletters, Pins, and Seen. This is sorely missing in the Outlook mail. Email templates is an interesting add-on. It allows you to create frequently-used template messages to save time when you regularly send similar email messages to people. Other features include email signature, themes, email viewer option, fingerprint protection, and more. Spark email is completely free to download and use. Download Spark Email on Android

3. Yahoo Email

Even though its relevance isn’t as impactful as it was years ago, Yahoo email remains the top choice for thousands of users out there. The new email app looks modern and offers theming options right from the start. The app offers all the relevant options at the bottom for easier reach. Yahoo plays perfectly fine with third-party apps such as LinkedIn, Dropbox, and Google Drive. The Yahoo Email app is filled with giant banner ads on the home screen, and many won’t like it. And there is no way to remove them via a purchase option. Unlike Outlook, Yahoo isn’t trying to do too many things at once. It focuses on email and excels there. The other features include multiple theming options, email signature, block images, fingerprint protection, and more. Download Yahoo Email for Android

4. myMail

myMail supports a long list of email service providers such as Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, Hotmail, Exchange, AOL, my.com, and more. Once you add an email account, the app will take its sweet time to sync emails. After that, it’s a joy to use with bottom navigation and a clean UI. The iconography and theme options are spot on. The ads are minimal and smartly hidden under the menus and doesn’t come to the face while using the app. The app comes with different theming options, mail folder, address book, and more. my.Mail also supports fingerprint authentication, something that’s absent from the Outlook app. myMail is completely free to download and use. 5. Email Lightening

As the name suggests, Email by Editon software claims to be the fastest email app out there. It offers a similar Focused Inbox add-on as Outlook and prioritizes the inbox itself. Email app comfortably beats Outlook with a built-in assistant. Tap on the hamburger menu at the top, and you will find an Email handling all your emails in relevant categories such as Subscriptions, Travel, Packages, Bills, Entertainment, and Refund Alerts. It’s easy to find an email you are looking for, and we wish every email app bluntly copies this feature. It also comes with multiple themes, custom signature, fingerprint lock, templates, color coding, and more. Email lightning is free to use, which is surprising given the number of features on offer. We won’t be surprised with the inclusion of paid plan in the future. Download Email for Android
