1. Front Dual Camera
Going by the latest fad in the smartphone market, the Samsung Galaxy A8+ comes with a dual camera setup. However, unlike its pricier cousin (read, Galaxy Note8), the Galaxy A8+ sports front dual camera only. Sporting an 8-megapixel and 16-megapixel camera, it can capture admirable pictures in the portrait mode, aka the Bokeh mode. Similar to the Galaxy Note8, you can also adjust the blur as per your preference, much later after you have clicked the picture. Moreover, the rear 16-megapixel camera with a f/1.7 aperture can click incredibly detailed photos, even in low light conditions.
2. Bixby & Samsung Pay
Bixby, the smart assistant from Samsung, was considered a flagship feature till now. However, that changes with the launch of the Galaxy A8+. It’s one of the first premium phones to come packed with Bixby vision and Bixby Home. Apart from that, the Galaxy A8+ also sports Samsung Pay. It makes cash-less transaction dramatically simple by bundling everything together (credit card, debit card, and Paytm wallet) that you would need for a cashless transaction.
3. Super AMOLED Screen
The 6-inch Full HD Super AMOLED (1080×2220) display of the Galaxy A8+ feels amazingly bright and crisp. What makes it even better is that it blends the colors perfectly. Well, that’s the one thing about Samsung, you can’t ever go wrong with the display.
4. Bluetooth 5.0 and IP68 Rating
The Samsung Galaxy A8+ is the third smartphone from the house of Samsung to sport Bluetooth 5.0. With this latest Bluetooth version, you can experience faster speed and a longer range. If we talk numbers, Bluetooth 5.0 quadruples the range of its predecessor. Moreover, the Galaxy A8+ carries an IP68 rating, meaning that it’s dust and water resistance.

1. No Oreo at Launch
The Samsung Galaxy A8+ still runs Android Nougat. It’s 2018 and you’d expect a premium Samsung phone to come packed with Android Oreo. On a brighter note, the Android O update is supposed to arrive this year. However, I would take that with a pinch of salt since the Samsung flagships are yet to receive this update globally.
2. No Bixby Voice
Along with the Bixby button, another feature missing in the Samsung Galaxy A8+ is Bixby Voice. This means that though you can see your activities in Bixby Home, you won’t be able to give voice commands.
3. Half-baked Infinity Display
There have been much hype regarding the Infinity Display of the Galaxy A8+. Yes, the 18.5:9 ratio in the Super AMOLED screen feels great, however, it’s not worthy of the Infinity Display tag. The side bezels are thick and you can’t help but see them every time you use the phone.
4. A Bit too Pricey
Last but not the least, it’s the price. As we mentioned earlier, it has been launched as a contender to the OnePlus 5T, I feel the price-tag of Rs 32,990 is a bit steep, considering the features it packs. Unlike the Snapdragon 835 in the OnePlus 5T, the Galaxy A8+ is powered by Exynos 7885. If you recollect, the Exynos variant of the Samsung Note8 is powered by the Exynos 8995 octa-core processor.
Will You Buy It?
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A8+ is a decent phone with a great battery life, front dual camera and the advantage of Samsung Pay and Bixby. However, if you ask me, I was expecting a slightly different design, considering that it carries the tag of Infinity display. Buy
